Sérgio Ferro

Pintor, desenhista, arquiteto e professor. Forma-se arquiteto pela Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo da Universidade de São Paulo – FAU/USP, em 1962. Faz pós-graduação em museologia e evolução urbana, na mesma faculdade. Em 1965, participa da organização da mostra Opinião 65, no Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro – MAM/RJ, onde também expõe. Cursa semiologia na Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo, em 1966. Na década de 1960, integra com Flávio Império (1935 – 1985) e Rodrigo Lèfevre (1938 – 1984) o Grupo Arquitetura Nova. É professor da Escola de Formação Superior de Desenho, entre 1962 e 1968; do curso de história da arte e de estética da FAU/USP, de 1962 a 1970; e do curso de arquitetura da Universidade de Brasília – UnB, entre 1969 e 1970. Por causa da ditadura militar no Brasil, muda-se para a França, em 1972. De 1972 a 2003, leciona na École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble, na Suíça, e, na mesma universidade, funda o laboratório Dessin/Chantier [desenho/canteiro] e o dirige de 1982 a 1997. Recebe o prêmio de melhor pintor da Associação Paulista de Críticos de Arte – APCA, em 1987.  Publica, entre outros, os livros O Canteiro e o Desenho, 1979, Michelangelo: Notas por Sérgio Ferro, 1981, e Michel-Angel, Architecte et Sculpteur, 1998. Realiza murais para várias instituições na França e no Brasil, como o Memorial da América Latina, em 1990, e o Memorial de Curitiba, em 1996 e em 2002.

 Painter, draftsman, architect and teacher. He graduated in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAU / USP) in 1962. He has a postgraduate degree in museology and urban evolution at the same university. In 1965, he participated in the organization of the group show Opinião 65, in the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro – MAM / RJ, where he also exhibits. He studied semiology at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, São Paulo, in 1966. In the 1960s, he integrated the Arquitetura Nova Group with Flávio Império (1935 – 1985) and Rodrigo Lèfevre (1938 – 1984). He is professor of the Escola de Formação Superior de Desenho, between 1962 and 1968; of the history of art and aesthetics course of FAU / USP, from 1962 to 1970; and of the architecture course of the University of Brasília (UnB) between 1969 and 1970. Because of the military dictatorship in Brazil, he moved to France in 1972. From 1972 to 2003, he taught at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Grenoble, in Switzerland, and founded the Dessin / Chantier laboratory in 1982. He was awarded the prize for best painter by the Paulista Association of Art Critics (APCA) in 1987. He publishes, Michelangelo: Notes by Sérgio Ferro, 1981, and Michel-Angel, Architecte et Sculpteur, 1998. He produces murals for various institutions in France and Brazil, such as the Memorial of Latin America , In 1990, and the Curitiba Memorial in 1996 and 2002.
